About RetroZ Arcade

RetroZ Arcade is a free arcade that runs in a web browser. There are 15 games, no download, and no install — a page load is the whole setup. It also runs as a Reddit app, so the same arcade can be played inside a subreddit.

Two ways in

The arcade has two front doors onto the same account. The 3D hall is a room you walk around, with a cabinet per game, other players visible as they browse, and live chat. The 2D lobby is a plain scrolling list of the same cabinets, for anyone who would rather not fly a camera around — it opens the same shop, the same rankings and the same mail. Your coins, scores and avatar are identical in both.

Coins, and why a game costs something

Signing in opens a wallet with 2,000 coins. Every run costs an entry fee and can return coins based on the submitted score. A payout is not guaranteed to cover the fee.

Entry feeGames
100 coinsBLOX, Snake, Simon, MERGE, Bubbles
200 coinsBrickBreaker, Asteroids, Rise, Gems, DIG, FLAK, FLIP
300 coinsBeatSequence, Nova, TOWER

You need the full entry fee. If your balance is too low, the run does not start and no coins are charged. Claim an available daily bonus and try again. Raw game points and wallet coins are different: the results show the award after verification and the community share.

Coins are a game token. They have no cash value and cannot be cashed out — see the Terms of Service.

The daily bonus

Checking in each day pays 600 coins plus a streak bonus that grows the longer your run of consecutive days lasts. Miss a day and the streak restarts; the base bonus is always there.

Today's games

3 of the 16 games are "today's dailies", and they carry the day's ranked board and its prize pool. Which ones is a pure function of the UTC date — every player and every server works it out independently, and nothing is stored or announced. The pool is shuffled once per cycle and dealt out in slices, so within a cycle every game comes up exactly once and none is skipped. Across a cycle boundary a game can repeat, because the deck is reshuffled.

Leaderboards

Each game has a board for today and a board for all time, and there is an ARCADE ladder that ranks players across every game rather than inside one. Scores are verified before they land: supported runs are replayed from their seed and recorded inputs, while other accepted formats receive score and duration checks. Quitting early is distinct from completing a ranked run.

The community vault

10% of every payout is skimmed into a shared vault rather than paid to the player. It funds two things: daily prizes for the ranked boards, and permanent unlocks for everybody once the running total passes a threshold.

Your character

Everyone gets an avatar that other players see in the hall, on the leaderboards and on their profile. The shop sells five things it wears — face, hair, clothes, an accessory, and a back item such as wings or a backpack — and two things it does: emotes, which stack up as buttons on a wheel the more you own, and walk styles, of which one is worn at a time. Everything is bought with coins, owned permanently, and can be tried on in a fitting room before you spend. You can also buy an item as a gift for another player.

Accounts

Browsing needs no account: the arcade, every game page and every leaderboard are open. Signing in with Google is what opens a wallet and puts you on the boards. We store far less than you might expect — see the Privacy Policy, which is specific about it.
