Simon
Memory · 100 coins to play · free in your browser
Pure memory. The pads play a sequence and you repeat it, one step longer every round. It is the shortest game here to learn and the hardest to hold your nerve in, because the only thing that ever fails is your own recall.
Is this your next game?
A compact memory challenge with no aiming or steering. Watch the whole demonstration before answering.
Choose a cabinet in the arcade →How to play
- Watch the pattern, then tap the pads in the same order they lit up.
- A fifth pad joins at round 6 and a sixth at round 11.
- Every fifth round is reversed — enter it backwards.
Mouse and keyboard
Click the pads with a mouse or tap them on a touchscreen. Simon has no keyboard pad bindings.
Controls on a touchscreen
- Tap the pads in the order they lit. Adjacent pads never overlap at any pad count, so a tap that lands in the gap between two is resolved rather than misread.
Scoring
- A completed round earns the round number × 100 × the flawless-round streak multiplier, rounded to the nearest point. The newly completed round counts toward that streak.
- The first three rounds completed flawlessly pay 100 + 200 + 375 = 675 points in total.
Combos and multipliers
The flawless-round streak multiplier is 1× for the first two rounds in a streak, 1.25× for rounds three through five, and 1.5× from six onward. A wrong tap resets the streak. Longer sequences, more pads, faster playback and every fifth round played backwards add difficulty.
How a run ends
Two mistakes. You get one strike of slack before a run ends.
Worth knowing
- The board grows: four pads to start, then five, then six, so the sequence gets harder to hold as well as longer.
- Every fifth round runs in reverse — you repeat the sequence backwards, which is a different skill from repeating it forwards.
- The playback speeds up as the rounds climb.
Your first run
- Group the sequence into short phrases of positions. Recite the phrase while waiting instead of tapping along during playback.
- Check whether the round asks for reverse order before you begin. Reversing a remembered phrase is safer than discovering the rule halfway through your answer.
A mistake to avoid
Relying on a familiar four-pad shape after a new pad joins. Take a fresh look at the expanded board before playing back the sequence.
Worked example
Three flawless opening rounds earn 100 + 200 + 375 = 675 raw points: the third round uses the new 1.25× streak multiplier. From six flawless rounds the multiplier caps at 1.5×; a mistake resets the streak. Every fifth round asks for the sequence backwards: a demonstration of left, top, right must be answered right, top, left.
