Snake

Arcade · 100 coins to play · free in your browser

The classic, with the corners taken off it. You steer a growing snake around a grid collecting apples, and the difficulty is entirely self-inflicted: every apple makes the obstacle longer. This version adds items that can help or hurt, so a greedy line is not automatically the right one.

Is this your next game?

Choose Snake for readable movement with increasingly tight routing. The same turn can be made with arrows, a swipe or the on-screen D-pad.

Plan a route to the diamond-shaped apple. Use the direction buttons or focus a button and use Arrow keys. This small training board advances one cell per input; the arcade game moves continuously.

Eating an apple grows the snake. Avoid the wall and your tail, and leave yourself an exit. Later hazards use # for rocks, × for bad apples, ✂ for scissors and ★ for golden apples. This exercise uses RetroZ’s game rules. No login, entry fee, saved score, coins or leaderboard rewards.

Scoring

Combos and multipliers

There is no score multiplier. Ordinary and golden apples grow your body, while bad apples do not; collecting more food means planning around a longer obstacle.

How a run ends

Running into a wall, a rock, or your own body.

Worth knowing

Your first run

A mistake to avoid

Chasing a valuable item through a narrow gap without checking where the tail and rocks will leave room for the following turn.

Worked example

Three ordinary apples add 300 raw points and three segments. One golden apple adds 150 points total and two segments, so those three ordinary apples followed by a golden apple earn 450 points and five segments altogether.

Examples describe in-game points or resources. Wallet rewards are calculated separately after submission.
